3D printing
Today, I had the opportunity to test the 3D printing of a model I designed. This model should ideally be challenging or nearly impossible to mill conventionally. My choice was a tower with a hollow top portion. You can find the Fusion 360 model here or if you just want the .stl.
My basic print settings for an UltiMaker S5 were as follows: a resolution of 0.2mm, infill density set at 15%, infill pattern set to triangles, and a shell thickness of 0.8mm. I opted to use supports, although it might have been fine without any. I used PLA as the printing material and printed with a 0.4mm nozzle.
This is what the finished print looks like with the supports removed.
